While companies are rising above intense price competition and developing globally in pursuit of a large market, there remain many outstanding issues connected with sustainability. In the case of Japan, these include the shrinking of the market associated with the declining birthrate and aging population. On a global scale, social media is increasingly prevalent, and corporate resources—people, goods, and money—have started to flow through new frameworks.
Masataka Uo, who promotes fundraising in Japan, will provide some background and context on the direct capital flows between private citizens and the use of social innovation forums to channel personal resources toward the resolution of social problems.
Kenzo Okuda from Social Planning Unit POZI , will discuss communication approaches for today’s social media age, and the development of lifescapes in Shibuya and Futako-Tamagawa.
Also on the panel is Hiroyuki Takahashi from Nihon Taberu Tsushin League. Focusing on products that are supported by the local community, Takahashi will report on a manufacturing business and a specialty boutique that sells its products, and discuss what hints this case holds about the future of society and business.
